The “Overlooked” series uses Times obituaries, widely recognized for their masterful storytelling, to bring you closer to women of noteworthy achievement and the journalistic craft that now celebrates them. This live event celebrated some of the extraordinary women of the past who are getting Times obituaries for the first time, with Times gender editor Jessica Bennett, critic at large Amanda Hess and national reporter covering immigration, Caitlin Dickerson, and editorial director of NYT Global, Jodi Rudoren. The new obits were read on stage by Laurie Anderson, Justin Vivian Bond, Sarah Jessica Parker, Esperanza Spalding and Amber Tamblyn.
